Valencia Congress Centre: Two spaces in one

The activity registered in Valencia Congress Centre during its 13 years of life, more than 2,000 events and 1.5 million participants, has generated an economic impact in the city of more than 700 million euro, which has contributed to the increasing popularity of Valencia as a meeting destination. It is the Spanish city which has had a higher increase in the number of European visitors, holding the 10th world position in the ICCA’s ranking of non capital cities. .

The extension of the Congress Centre will consolidate the International position of the successful tandem Venue-City and will increase the possibilities of holding simultaneous and bigger events. The project designed by Foster&Partners Architecture is based on the construction of a twin building with multifunctional and versatile areas and meeting rooms of several capacities up to 2,500 people. This will make it possible to also use the space as open areas, depending on the event requirements, and will allow the success of any lay-out that can be imagined.

The building will remain a reference model for new technologies and sustainability, thanks to its photo-volcanic plates coating of 14,000 sqm which will generate almost 500,000 kWh per year and will avoid a CO2 emission of 456,000 Kg.

The building, when finished, will allow an increase of 30,000 delegates attending national and international congresses every year and will be financed from its own resources.
