Sharp unveils the new generation of multifunction systems at the european convention held in Portaventura Business & Events

  • Sharp has accelerated the introduction of the new generation of high connectivity multifunction products with two A3 colour models: this was one of the major innovations announced to more than 750 delegates from around the world, gathered in PortAventura Business & Events.
  • Frank Barbaras, Director of PortAventura Business & Events and PortAventura Convention Centre commented, “The choice of PortAventura Business & Events by the multinational Sharp demonstrates both the versatility of our facilities and the high level of our technology”
  • The leisure agenda, developed especially for the more than 750 delegates from Sharp, was characterised by prioritising networking in unique spaces and sports events such as the golf tournament, which brought the event to a close on 12 October.

Vila-Seca/Salou, 19 of November 2012.- “To date, MFPs (multifunction copiers) have mainly been used to copy or distribute documents”, maintained Marc Brion, head of product planning at Sharp, in his presentation. He added that “in the office of the future, MFP will act as a portal for information arriving through and beyond the company”.

“It won’t matter whether you use a PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone… the Office MFP will provide instant access to all the information you need,” he added.

The Sharp European Convention, held from 10-12 October at the PortAventura Convention Centre, also included the presentation of Sharp Optimised Services, a service that can reduce office printing and copy costs and improve workplace productivity and control of printing infrastructure. For Frank Barbaras, Director of PortAventura Business & Events and PortAventura Convention Centre, “The choice of PortAventura Business & Events by the multinational Sharp was welcome news, and evidences both the versatility of our facilities and the high level of our technology, which enables the holding of any event, meeting or convention with the assurance of being able to count on the latest technical advances”. Apart from the work agenda, the highlight of which was the plenary session, held in the spectacular Alexandria room, where the lunch afterwards was also held, attendees of Sharp’s European Convention were also able to enjoy a full leisure agenda. On 10 October, an aperitif was offered on the terraces outside the Convention Centre, followed by dinner in the Cartago room. The packed agenda continued on 11 October with the welcome cocktail, especially prepared for the occasion in La Cantina, the venue for the magnificent gala dinner too.

A convention of European and international importance

Sharp announced at the convention the launch of a range of software applications so that its customers can optimise the return on their investments in Multifunction Systems (MFPs). The new applications can be used to increase office productivity and efficiency while controlling costs and reducing waste.

The convention finally showed Sharp’s achievements in making work easier through tools for smartphones and tablets, especially devised for people who travel frequently.

“Smartphones and Tablets have become standard tools in the workplace”, said manager Peter Plested, who added, “what was missing until now was the connection between mobile devices and MFPs in offices and Sharpdesk Mobile has solved this”, since this new device prints, scans and shares.

Sharp Corporation employs 65,000 people worldwide (August 2011) and recorded consolidated annual sales of 3,021,973,000,000 yen for the fiscal year ending March 2011.
