Estoril Coast Ambassadors Club

The Estoril Coast Ambassadors Club held its first recognition event on 7th December. The Club which aims to promote the Estoril Coast as the perfect congress destination for Meetings and Events gathered a multitude of senior association, meeting industry suppliers and political figures in a celebration awards lunch to recognize the efforts of all sectors in contributing to the reputation and 2012 success of the knowledge sector. Linda Pereira, the Secretary General of the Ambassadors Club was the master of ceremonies for the event and facilitated the way to awarding the 3 much sought after awards. 56 senior figures from all sectors gathered at this year’s awards to celebrate the personal contribution of each winner to the Destination. In a time of globalization and mass marketing our objective was to recognize the individual effort of each person and to motivate others to follow in their path and celebrate what the individual can achieve to contribute to the economic development and success of the destination where he works and lives. The Awards focused sustainability, team attitude and the association ambassador of the year whose efforts resulted in attracting the event with the most impacting congress in terms of legacy. Pedro Rocha dos Santos, International Business Development Director of the Estoril Congress Centre received the award for Sustainability Ambassador, in recognition of his determination in branding the destination and raising awareness of the importance of sustainability as a differentiating factor long before it became the accepted thing to do. Joaquim Cardoso, General Manager of the Estoril Eden Hotel was awarded the Meeting Industry Ambassador Award after a landslide vote form his supplier colleagues in the local industry for his co-opetition attitude and continuous efforts on behalf of the sector. The much-awaited Ambassador of the Year award was won by Professor Helena Pereira, Deputy Dean of the Lisbon Technical University and senior lecturer at the Institute of Agronomy for bidding for and bringing the Forest products Congress to the Estoril Coast. The award was given as a result of a criteria analysis of the size, economic impact and legacy for the destination. Congratulations to all the Ambassadors.
