First Meeting Tourism in Catalonia Forum

First Meeting Tourism in Catalonia Forum

On 11 February this year, the Catalan Tourist Board, through the Catalunya Convention Bureau, hosted the First Meeting Tourism in Catalonia Forum, which was attended by approximately 600 people working in the field. The fact that many of these delegates were senior figures demonstrates that there is a degree of concern in the sector and that there is a need for support through the creation of platforms that will help the industry to grow and improve.

The forum provided an opportunity for meeting tourism professionals in Catalonia to get together for the first time. The event focused on three areas: training, creating synergies or networking and group reflection.

The eminent speakers during the forum included Patrick Delaney, the founder of Ovation and former president of SITE, Guy Bigwood, from MCI Group Independent, and Itamar Rogovsky, Director of the Institute for Organizational Development.

The main conclusions reached made reference to the creation of a distinctive product with a higher added value, to the positioning of the Catalonia brand in the MICE market and to the tremendous need to build a community in which all of us in the sector work together to generate synergies and to improve and stimulate meeting tourism in Catalonia.

Lastly, it was noted that the forum was a turning point for the Catalan meeting tourism industry and that those present regarded it as a useful meeting, with 93% of attendees expecting to take part in forthcoming events.
