San Sebastian is internationally renowned for being a culinary haven. The capital of Gipuzkoa offers visitors the opportunity to get to know the best gastronomy with more Michelin stars per square metre than in any other city in the world.

Out of eight 3-Michelin star restaurants in Spain, three are in San Sebastian (Akelarre, Martín Berasategui and Mugaritz) and the city has also a great selection of establishments holding two or one Michelin stars: Mugaritz (2), Arbelaitz Miramón, Kokotxa, Zuberoa, Alameda and Mirador de Ulia. All restaurants together make a 16 Michelin stars in one city.

This year the region of Gipuzkoa welcomes Elcano as a new Michelin starred restaurant. Located in the beautiful fishing-port village of Getaria, at 18 km from San Sebastian, this establishment offers visitors best seasonal fishes done in a grill in the open air.

Gastronomy continues to be an art and a feature that sets San Sebastian apart.
