Porto International Airport welcomes new routes in 2015

The Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport continues to see a growth in the number of operating airlines and direct routes.

EasyJet will have its own operating airbase in Porto (home to two aircrafts) from spring 2015 and will increase the number of direct flights to/from the destination. Among the existing routes, Porto will now be directly connected by the airline to Nantes, London Luton, Bristol, Manchester, Luxembourg and Stuttgart. In addition, the company will also increase frequencies to Geneva, Basel, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Lyon, London Gatwick and Toulouse.

Swiss International Airline will re-launch the Porto-Zurich route with a regular operation of 5 flights per week from April, and Transavia will also increase the frequency on the existing routes of Lyon, Nantes, Funchal and Paris Orly.

Adding to the summer schedule of 2015, low-cost carrier Ryanair will operate an internal flight to Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, from April 1st.

Also from April, the connections between Porto and Germany will be reinforced with a new flight to Düsseldorf operated by Germanwings, the low-cost arm of Lufthansa.

But the major highlight of the first half of 2015 is the new connection Porto-Istanbul operated by Turkish Airlines, from April 30th and with 4 weekly frequencies. It will be the furthest eastern destination from Porto and an important hub for the Middle-East and Asian markets which are steadily becoming more prominent in the Destination.

Now with 18 operating airlines and 70 direct routes, Porto Airport was considered 3rd Best European Airport in 2014 by ACI.
