The CCIB wins bronze at the M&IT awards

The Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) received the Bronze award for Best Overseas Conference Centre, out of nine centres selected as finalists from around the world, at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Industry Awards, which took place earlier this week in London.

The convention centre based in Barcelona has once more earned itself a place on the podium in these prestigious awards, alongside The Convention Centre Dublin (Ireland), who won gold, and the Grimaldi Forum Monaco and Amsterdam RAI (Holland), who shared silver.

Marc Rodríguez, the CCIB Managing Director states: “For everyone on the CCIB team, receiving again the recognition from British event organizers is a great honour, and is an endorsement of how satisfied our clients are with our facilities and our team of professionals”. This is the fourth time that the CCIB has received an award at the M&IT Awards, achieving bronze in 2007 and 2012, and silver in 2008.

This award rounds off celebrations of the CCIB’s tenth anniversary, a year in which the centre has set a record number of 113 events hosted, and has achieved a 24.5% increase in revenue.

Organised by the prestigious British publication Meetings & Incentive Travel, and hosted by English rugby player Matt Dawson, this year’s gala was held in the Battersea Evolution in London, a centre which is also run by the group GL events. Once again, more than 1,100 professionals from the business tourism sector gathered together in an awards ceremony for excellence of services or products, based on votes cast by the UK-based events organisers.
